Transferable Elective Yes Course Outline 1) Develop and complete a representational landscape watercolor painting utilizing brush, palette knife and sponges and emphasizing light and shadow
2) Develop and complete a semi abstract watercolor painting focusing on a macro view of selected subject with a strong compositional emphasis and glazing
3) Research and develop a traditional watercolor painting which incorporates the stylistic aspects of a watercolor Master Painter , accompanied by a written report of the master painters technique
4) Develop and complete a contemporary figurative watercolor painting utilizing masking and subtractive techniques in a monochromatic palette
Student Learning Outcomes Experience and utilize a variety of watercolor materials and tools at an intermediate level
Draw and paint a wide variety of subjects, ie: landscape, botanical, human and animal forms, still life, nonorganic: from life as well as from reference photos
Incorporate the following concepts into paintings: line, shape, light and shadow, color, texture, space and motion, rhythm, contrast, dominance, variation and unity
Articulate the real world application of copyright and understand the potential consequence of misuse
