This course serves as a capstone to the Leadership concentration of the BAS in Business Management. The survey course leverages personality assessment tools to guide students to the building of an effective leadership style and approach that is unique to their capabilities and interests. An emphasis is placed on being self-aware enough to intentionally adopt a leadership style that aligns with one’s capabilities and value system. Leadership theory coupled with reflective self-assessment culminates in the development of a personal professional identity for students who succeed in the course.

An introduction to personality and leadership assessments
Leadership identity as more than a title, job description, or role.
Establishing one’s self as an effective leader by linking personality, behavior, and decision-making.
Mapping natural tendencies to leadership theories including transformational, transactional, servant, situational, and more.
Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots in leadership approaches.
Defining a personal mission and vision statement, aligning this with values and philosophies, and leveraging it to lead within ethical, moral, and legal models, theories, and frameworks.
Adapting leadership styles situationally while maintaining authenticity.
Approaching one’s professional identity strategically and with a positioning mindset.
