ENGL 103 - Portfolio Completion I

Designed for students who have taken an English composition class at another institution and need a PLA. This course can be used to supplement previously earned credits – for example, another institution offers composition as a 4-credit course and student needs one additional credit for their AA requirements. This course can also be used to supplement all five credits if a student completed equivalent work at another institution.

Students will have shown:

To possess the skills needed to write effectively in a variety of contexts as students, as professionals, as citizens, and as individuals
about 5,000 words of finished (revised, edited) text with emphasis on writing for critical thinking, e.g., analysis and synthesis
the ability to study and write in a selection of the following forms: the personal essay, the proposal, the argument or editorial, the profile, the letter, the summary, the expository paper using sources, the literary explication, the review, the definition paper, the concept paper, and others.
