This course explores how digital attacks happen and why people commit them, ranging from individual hackers to organized groups. Students will examine technical methods like malware and system breaches alongside human-focused tactics such as scams and identity theft. The curriculum also covers the real-world impact of these actions, including the legal consequences and ethical responsibilities in our connected society.

Examine how the internet is used for cybercrime, cyber-stalking, and other abusive behaviors.

Evaluate the effectiveness of applications of cybersecurity in preventing crime and abuse.

Examine case studies of Internet cybercrime methods and potential protections.

Identify the bad actors in cyberspace and compare and contrast their resources, capabilities/techniques, motivations and aversion to risk.

Communicate, rate in importance, and describe different types of cyberattacks and their characteristics.

Evaluate threat intelligence to determine if a given attack/attacker/vulnerability combination is a threat to a given organization.

Explain and discuss how defending against cyber threats is critical for protecting systems, networks, and data from harm.
