Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity degree expands on a two-year applied study of Cybersecurity to more deeply explore advanced topics with upper-division coursework in a high-tech, high-demand area. Earning an applied bachelor’s degree may help you make higher wages and prepare you for higher-level specialized technical positions.

Learning Outcomes


A student earning a Bachelors of Applied Sciences in Cybersecurity will be able to:

  • Secure, test, and deploy infrastructure such as end devices, databases, application programming interfaces, and services.
  • Perform analysis to generate knoweldge from observable telemetry and large data sets.
  • Plan for, conduct, and report on cybersecurity incidents and penetration testing engagements. 
  • Conduct investigations that meet professional standards.
  • Apply knowledge of professional ethics to cybersecurity.

Program Eligibility


Applicants must have:

  • Completed a regionally accredited AAS or AAS-T degree in Informational Technology degree or related field
  • Other associate degrees will be considered on a case by case basis
  • Official transcripts from an accredited college or university, and
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better.

Application Process


To be considered for this bachelor of applied science program prospective students must complete the application form.

Program Prerequisites


  • Associates degree in IT-related field or equivalent  (90cr)
  • Recommended prerequisites:
    • CIS 150, or a systems fundamentals course
    • CIS 160, or a networking fundamentals course
    • CIS 166, or a network defense course
    • CIS 215, or a Linux foundation course
    • Note: students can take the pre-requisite courses after admission to this program

Requirements


Students must have a total of 50 credits of general education courses and 60 credits of 300/400 level courses to be awarded a BAS degree. Students must achieve a minimum grade of 2.0 in each CIS and CSCI class

General Education Requirements: (50 credits)


Quantitative Skills (5 credits)


Humanities (5 credits)


Social Sciences (5 credits)


Natural Science with lab (5 credits)


Select a natural science course that includes a lab.

General Education Electives (20 credits)


Select 10 credits of Computer Science courses, and 10 credits of any combination of science, social science or humanities courses. Please see below for the elective courses:

Program Core: 75 credits


Associate Degree/Related Credits: 55 credits


Credits from an associate degree issued by a regionally accredited institution transferred into the program.
