Financial aid is available for eligible students to help offset educational expenses. Financial aid comes in the form of grants (free money; it is typically not repaid), student loans, and work-study. All students are encouraged to apply. The financial aid process takes about 120 days to complete, so be sure to plan ahead!
Applying for Financial Aid
For information on how to apply, required documentation and financial aid deadlines, visit the financial aid website at https://financialaid.highline.edu/.
The following are general guidelines regarding eligibility for federal financial aid:
- Demonstrate financial need (for most programs);
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen;
- Have a valid Social Security number (with the exception of students from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or the Republic of Palau);
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student in an eligible degree or certificate program;
- Be enrolled at leas half-time to be eligible for Direct Loan Program funds;
- Maintain financial aid satisfactory academic progress;
- Show you are qualified to obtain a college or career school education by having a U.S. High School diploma, or its equivalent
The following types of financial aid are available at Highline:
- Federal programs: Pell Grant, Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS), Federal Subsidized Direct Loan (SUB-LOAN) and Federal Unsubsidized Direct Loan (UNSUB-LN)
- State programs: Washington College Grant (WCG), College Bound Scholarships (CBS), Passport to College, and State Work-Study (SWS)
- Institutional programs: Highline College Grant and Tuition Waiver
Academic Requirements for Financial Aid
Students receiving financial aid are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Communicating with Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Office will communicate with students primarily via email and the ctclink Portal Message Center. It is extremely important for students seeking financial aid to read all materials sent to them by the Financial Aid Office and to check their email and ctcLink Portal Message Center daily.
