- What is Comedy: This section will look at traditional structure of comedy from the lens of cultural critics, directors, and comedians.
- Types of Comedy: In this section we will cover different types of comedy: Romantic Comedy, Dark Comedy, Slapstick, Comedic Horror, Farce, Parody
- What is Tragedy: We will look at the structure of tragedy from the lens of cultural critics, directors, and writers.
- Types of Tragedy: We will study tragedy through film genres such as: Cinema Verite, Documentary, Action Films, and Social Commentary.
Student Learning Outcomes Differentiate specific film genres in order to identify key narrative tropes.
Identify and discuss the basic elements of cinematography.
Identify the classical Hollywood style as well as the alternative narrative styles that oppose it
