DGS 152 - Critical Thinking for Equity5 Credits This class explores personal identities and how our collective memberships impact our daily lives. It uses a variety of sources such as literature, film, art and/or social media to critically examine the political, social, and historical meanings of our cultural identities.

Course Outline * Discuss and analyze the impact and intersection of identities including race, class, gender, ability, language, sexual orientation and religion using personal stories and other sources (eg literature, film, art) * Discuss and analyze a diverse range of individual and collective actions for social change * Introduce multicultural theory as it applies to the concepts being discussed

Articulate an analysis of how power and privilege function on individual, cultural and institutional levels.
