Program Description
This is a Certificate for those interested in the industry of flight and its emphasis areas: airport and airlines operations and management. Individuals completing this selection of coursework will be effectively trained in logistical elements of the aforementioned areas, culminating in a holistic understanding of the industry of flight. This selection of coursework covers all necessary elements to succeed in job placement in operations as a professional in the airline or airport industry. Students interested in careers in the industry of flight are well-suited for enrolling in this selection of coursework. Credits earned during the tenure of this certificate can be used toward further degrees.

Learning Outcomes
There are three primary emphasis areas a student should comprehend in order to understand the global phenomenon of flight as a business and industry: airlines, airports, and aviation (e.g. meteorology, pilots). This certificate deals with the two operational areas that do not include pilot skills. This certificate is timely and meets the demands of a growing workforce on the south side of Seattle given the success and growth of SeaTac Airport.
- Learners will identify, compare, and evaluate operational components in the airport and airline industries.
- Learners will explain organizational structures and career pathways available to individuals in these fields.
- Learners will describe the relationships, including those that are collaborative, that exist between airline, airport, aviation, and government personnel.
- Learners will identify and summarize safety, security, risk management, and liability best practices in congruence with industry standards.
- Learners will recognize the role of government and professional associations in the successful operations of the airline and airport industries.

Learners will have an understanding of industry-specific interviews inclusive of airport codes, code-sharing flights, background checks, loyalty programs and affiliated airlines, etc.
