Interested in a rewarding career that makes a difference? Accounting is the language of business and is used to explain the financial results of companies that range from small business to Fortune 500 companies in size. The Bookkeeping Certificate emphasizes practical skills in the accounting field. Students completing the certificate are employable as AP, AR or payroll clerks for entry level positions. With courses offered in the evenings, on the weekend, and online, the program meets the needs of individuals who are working professionals and future students.

Prerequisites


Some or all of the following are required. Check with a faculty adviser.

  • Keyboarding and 10-key numeric pad skills.
  • Consultation with an accounting faculty member

Specific Requirements


Program Core Courses


Where applicable, take ACCTG 121 , BTECH 104 and BUSN 216  before other PT courses.

Program Outcomes


  • Students will  accurately analyze and record  general accounting and payroll transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Students will accurate prepare financial reports using Quickbooks.
  • Given a specific set of circumstances; students will analyze and apply the appropriate ethical standards.

  • Accounting degree and certificates are not intended for business majors planning to transfer to a four-year program.
  • This information does not substitute for meeting with a faculty adviser.
  • Certificate programs emphasize preparation in specific job skills required for entry-level employment.
  • Not all classes are offered every quarter or at night.
