- Learning how to search for stories; information gathering.
- Writing and rewriting stories.
- Developing story ideas and important sources.
- Understanding freedom of the press, libel, and other legalities, and ethics.
- Finding and dealing with experts and/or credible sources.
- Double and re-double checking accuracy.
