R C 422 - Practicum V: Critical Care Clinical I 5 Credits This course is the first in a two-part series that provides the respiratory care student with an introduction to the critical care setting. The student will begin to apply the procedures and equipment most often utilized in the intensive care area. Emphasis is placed on continuous mechanical ventilation, artificial airways and advanced assessment. The student will assume limited patient care responsibilities in the critical care area.

- Fluid balance interpretation on mechanically ventilated patient.
- Mechanical ventilator data collection and interpretation.
