ENGR& 104 - Introduction to Design5 Credits An exploration of the wide range of careers possible in engineering through the lens of engineering design and a project-based approach. Students will examine the aptitudes, interests and student skills necessary for success in engineering. Stresses communication, teamwork, design process, creative and analytical thinking, quantitative analysis, professionalism and ethics, social, economic and political context, and open-ended problems. Introduces the engineering design process by building group skills, producing strategies for innovation, and fostering creativity in problem solving. Includes design projects, written reports and reflection, professionalism and ethical issues, and oral presentations.

Utilize and document the engineering design process to solve practical engineering application problems.
Execute project management functions to manage resources (time, people, and materials) for successful project completion
Communicate and perform effectively as a member of a diverse team.
Navigate, evaluate and demonstrate ethical use of library resources by identifying and citing credible and contextually appropriate sources.
Construct a weekly schedule and personalized study plan that exhibits effective time management and accounts for social and emotional wellness.
Construct an academic advising plan based on academic, career and transfer goals.
Evaluate and modify learning and test-taking strategies using evidence-based practices.
