Learning Outcomes


  • Investigate and develop curriculum that promotes learning across academic domains utilizing state standards and culturally sustaining practices
  • Develop teaching strategies for language acquisition and literacy skills
  • Design and evaluate inclusive classroom environments that support the optimal development of young children
  • Collect, record, and reflect on observation and assessment data, describing responsible assessment practices
  • Explore community demographics, integrating family and community contexts into program planning.
  • Demonstrate competency in college level math
  • Demonstrate competency in college level writing.

These outcomes build on the coursework of the Short State Specialization Certificates.

Important Notes


  • Not all classes are offered every quarter. Talk to a faculty adviser.
  • You have to earn a grade of 2.0 in each required class to apply it to a certificate or degree
  • Education coursework older than 5 years may not apply. General education credits will be accepted regardless of age.
