The Criminal Justice Associate of Applied Science teaches the practical knowledge about how the Criminal Justice system works and the necessary skills, including critical thinking and communication, that students need in order to excel as Criminal Justice professionals. Graduates work in law enforcement, corrections, security, the court system and more.

Program Outcomes
- Describe how cases move through the Criminal Justice system, highlighting the roles and responsibilities of law enforcement, the courts, and correctional agencies.
- Articulate reasoned and evidence-based positions on contemporary criminal justice issues, demonstrating an awareness of opposing viewpoints.
- Analyze criminal statutes to determine the statute’s elements, constitutionality and proper application.
- Demonstrate effective communication techniques and intercultural competence for communicating with diverse populations, including people in crisis and people who have experienced trauma.
- Demonstrate the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Identify constitutional freedoms and rights, and how an ethical criminal justice system and participatory citizenship protect those freedoms and rights
- Explain the importance of ethics and integrity within a Criminal Justice context.
- Identify, evaluate and summarize credible sources of information about the Criminal Justice system.
- Describe the historical evolution of Criminal Justice system components and how that history impacts current practices and relationships with diverse communities.
