International Business and Trade, Certificate


Highline’s certificate in International Business will provide you with
foundational training and expertise needed to be successful in the international marketplace. Our program prepares students with practical skills, a sense of global citizenship and an understanding of cultural diversity.  Those completing the certificate program can continue on to the International Business & Trade AAS degree and then to the Business Management BAS.

Program Outcomes


  • Interpret and use oral instructions to complete assigned tasks; speak clearly and produce written documents for a diverse group of customers, coworkers and managers utilizing current business terminology.
  • Employ workforce readiness skills, including problem solving, organizational planning and time management.
  • Use the principles of international business to address the challenges that businesses face when operating in an international environment, including cultural, political and legal issues.
  • Apply sound financial principles for bookkeeping, budgeting, financial reporting and planning.

  • Apply trade and logistics procedures and processes within companies that specialize in cargo transportation and import/export services.
  • Use an understanding of basic business principles and organizational priorities to make decisions about work being performed.

  • Not all classes are offered every quarter or at night, it is important to speak to an advisor to make sure you get into the right classes each quarter
  • Students taking less than 15 credits per quarter must remember it will take longer than one year to complete the program.
  • Coursework is highly interactive and includes field-based internships.
